Will the Hammock Hold Me? Aerial Yoga Fears, Officially Retired
Every woman hovering over the aerial yoga booking page is running the same five mental simulations, most of which end in an imagined emergency. Let us retire the fears one by one, so the only thing left hanging is you — comfortably, in fabric rated for a small car.

Fear One: It Will Break
The rigging is tested to four-digit pounds — the hammock could hold you, your gym bag, and your emotional baggage simultaneously. The fabric is the strongest thing in the room, including the instructor.
Fear Two: I Will Fall Out
Beginner poses keep you low, wrapped and supported — you are basically being held by a very committed scarf. Falling out takes more effort than staying in, which is the opposite of your couch.

Fear Three: I Am Not Strong Enough
The hammock does the holding; you do the arriving. Strength is the souvenir you leave with, not the ticket you need to get in. Week one is mostly sitting in silk feeling smug.
Fear Four and Five: Dizziness and Looking Silly
Gentle swaying bothers some inner ears at first — instructors calm the hammock on request, and it fades fast. As for looking silly: everyone is upside down. There are no witnesses, only accomplices.
Fears audited, all five denied. Book the intro class, wear the leggings, trust the engineering. Worst case, you spend an hour in a cocoon — which some people pay spas for. Best case: wings.
